I'm trying to convince my boyfriend to wear an athletic cup as he joins me at my krav maga classes. Do you have any recommendations for which ones work best? The main criteria I think are comfort and protection from various angles. He is being a bit reluctant because he says he thinks they sound uncomfortable, so I'm trying to find him something better than a no-name store brand that might not work well anyways. He says he'll wear it if I can find him a good one, and I'd rather keep him safe than let him get hurt without proper gear.
I asked my boyfriend and he said the Nutty Buddy is the best he's used. He said the regular sports cups "float" on the bottom so they don't protect the parts all that well, but the Nutty Buddy or fitted cups really fit the body and protect way more

+1 yHe definitely should wear one, I kickbox and every time I kick or see a guy get kicked in the groin it doesn't end well for him.

@Renee_IsCool1 : What percentage of the time do you land a kick on a guy there and he isn't wearing a cup?

@Renee_IsCool1 what happens when you do that?

women need to wear one too
+1 yI like Nutty Buddy! The cup is very well designed, and they sell them with compression underwear that minimizes the risk of the cup slipping out of place (which could result in the dreaded "cookie cutter" effect!)

@amysqs5 Yes, it protects well from all angles! :-)

@AmyQs5 this happened to my ex once! It’s when the cup slides out of place and the spandex now is pushing the sharp edges into the nuts! I knew it happened bc he was just kicking and collapsed. He told me he wasn’t wearing a jock but some tight spandex and it slid out of place! He told me it was horribly painful and needed a few min said it was just as bad as kick there

@AmysQs5 sorry spelled ur name wrong in the tag

@questiongirl567 Sorry to hear that happened to your boyfriend. Can you please message me?

@questiongirl567 what cup was he wearing that that happened? I want to make sure I avoid that!
Of course they're uncomfortable at first but believe me it's better to wear one than it is to take a full force kick, punch or knee to the groin. He'll soon learn that.

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yHe should def wear one. My boyfriend didn’t get any major injuries but basically couldn’t do any of the drills effectively bc he could barely last a round without collapsing from light hits there. Despite being one of the strongest guys in the gym and having combat experience he was one of the weakest performing guys in the class bc of it. My boyfriend wore a cup and is much better now he said he likes the diamond mma one!

That’s the beauty of Krav, size and strength are not as important as technique. Groin hits are tough to handle
- +1 y
@SportsgirlCanada2022 do you do krav? Are size and strength still the most important alongside technique?
Opinion Owner+1 y@Sportsgirlcanada2022 exactly, even the strongest and toughest guys can’t deal with a well aimed groin strike. Guys are very vunerable there more so than girls definitely
- +1 y
But I don’t get why guys are still so cocky about being tough
Don't let him join without getting a cup. The discomfort is nothing compared to potential for damage. Ball hits are terrible.

+1 yI remember reading a comment from you saying it hurts guys more to get kicked down there than girls but i disagree.
The vulva contains more nerve endings and if you have watched videos of women getting hit down there you can see them react like men (and the women who get kicked receive softer hits than men because they usually get kicked by other women whereas men receive kicks from other guys.)
So yeah it definitely hurts girls more

+1 yI don't know but do you wear any protection? Apparently a kick to the clit won't end well for women as well..

Maybe it's not as common because of it's size but i dont think it can't be as bad since the clit contains more nerve endings then the penis. Which part of the foot do u use to perform groin shots in KM?
Also, yeah it's much more important for him to keep it safe, YouTube would definitely help u in this case. - +1 y
Yh but trust me a sudden blow to the penis still bloody sucks. It feels like someone stabbed the tip out.
football and baseball players wear cups so might start there. (sports equipment)

Anonymous(25-29)+1 yWhat I’ve found is the more protective cups are way more uncomfortable and limit your mobility.
It depends on how much protection he wants compared to being able to move around quick

Opinion Owner+1 yThe women in my class introduce guys very quickly to groin strikes so they better have a solid cup otherwise they won’t last long
+1 yHe can face permanent damage if he doesn't wear one. It will hurt

- +1 y
@Briannalynn99 Can I dm you?
- +1 y
@Briannalynn99 Why’d you leave? Please don’t go lol. Come back.
- +1 y
@iamasassyguy yea you can dm me lol, and yea one kick and she ruptured one of his testicles 😰 i guess he passed out from it for a little. Small young women can easily damage guys testicles with ease so a cup is a must! 😁

@Briannalynn99 You disappeared again😔

@Briannalynn99 Please come back for god this time lol. I can’t dm you because it says you’re not active.

@Briannalynn99 Hey, I’m online rn. Wanna talk?
+1 yDon't. Just leave it be. If he doesn't want to wear one, he doesn't have to wear one
