I mostly prefer individual, because while I do physical activity, I think and clarify things in my head. Team sports is OK if I am hanging out with a group.
+1 yMy experience is all with team sports. There’s a lot of cool things about it, especially the camaraderie with your teammates. It can occasionally be frustrating when you do your part and someone else screws up and costs you a game, and it can be crushing when you’re the one who screws up and blows it for everyone else. Being the reason your team lost is one of the worst small-scale tragedies you can experience. I blew a routine play in my men’s league hockey game the other night, in a cartoonishly clumsy way, and I’ve been sick about it ever since. And it didn’t even make the difference between winning and losing, we were down multiple goals against a hot goalie, so AT BEST I would’ve only cut the lead by one, we were going to lose anyway. But you just hate to not make the play for the sake of the others. I’ve always wondered what individual sports are like, where it’s just you vs the other competitors, and you vs your previous performances. I feel like, with my personality, I’m my own toughest critic when it comes to athletics, so I might be too hard on myself in that situation. Another good thing with teammates is that they usually pick you up when you’re down. But I guess the overall reason I prefer team sports is simply because I prefer the nature of the games of team sports vs the games of individual sports. I’d just simply rather play football than swim. I’d just simply rather play hockey than golf.

+1 yI've done a lot of both, and I honestly can't really decide. There's just too many sports and too many benefits to both.
Team sports are simply a lot of fun, it's great to interact and coordinate efforts. It feels great to support and be supported and accomplish more together than you could on your own. My favorite is probably soccer/futbol.
Individual sports are also super fun and it's great that you can just go out whenever you like an independently participate without any coordination and communication required. It's also really amazing to just have time alone and do some "moving meditation" focused on your skill. My favorite here is probably snowboarding or scuba, followed closely by rock climbing.

+1 yI did not do a lot of sports. I am very much active and in shape. I work out tons. I was just never into competitve sports very much. So, I voted ‘B’ in your poll.
While I do not mind working out with friends or my partner, I much prefer to do my own thing. I love to do anything cardio related and do tons of yoga. I do a small amount of weight training, but I go for toned over muscle.
As for sports, I do like to swim but was never good enough to do it as a sport in school or anything. That can be team or individual, which is nice. My SO is big into sports and almost exclusively team sports. He plays (played) rugby pretty extensively (at an amateur level).
He said that he liked the bonding with teammates during the sport and often after when they would go out after a match. So, I can appreciate his view on that part of team sports.

+1 yI preferred individual sports.
I played soccer and badminton when I was a kid, and teenager.
I just enjoyed it more when I played singles badminton. Knowing that a win was because of me, and a loss was also me.
When I played soccer I was on the defense, plucking grass when the ball was up front, and just kicked the ball up toward the goal when it got near me. It wasn't really interesting to me, and we could lose or win without me really caring that much. Cause it wasn't my efforts really. And I guess I never felt like I fit in with the others properly.00 Reply

m +1 yI grew up into sports... team sports
I was extremely shy as a young child, so for me to have pursued sports on my own could have isolated me even more, so I tried soccer first and foremost, and not only I ended up into it for the game, but also needed that aspect of life... being among others and that is the one great thing about teams sports
they can give you so much (when done right) and bring up so many good and great things about you, so... that's just something I've continued till today
soccer is the one I played the most and also the most popular, football was the other I played a lot and also great in its own way... other than that I tried rugby for a short time as well as other sports that a bit more of me on my own, like tennis00 Reply
+1 yIndividual, but with other people. I love tennis, but I prefer to play singles and I'm not a fan of doubles. I like riding horses with other people on their own horses. Swimming, running, anything we can do together individually. One team sport I like it's sailing, but that feels kind of individual.
00 ReplyTennis from 7 years old through highschool: loved it and still mess around with it.
Soccer 6th grade through University: favorite but 10 more years left there into "old guy tennis". Fast paced soccer is the adrenaline rush. Sweeper position which is sort of like a protective Pit Bull with forward skill set. Build-up and distribution started with me...
00 ReplyI played team sports and the issue with it is you can play a blinder of a game but be let down by your teammates, or if you play badly, you feel like you let them down.
Individual is all down to me and I'm the only one to blame10 Reply
+1 yI prefer individual sports, like martial arts competitions. I and I alone am responsible for success or failure while in a team setting I could be having my best day and we still fail due to a weak link. Also, in team sports, I feel like there is more pressure on me because I do not want to be the weak link. Also, in team sports, there is always the chance of click behavior.

+1 ymostly individual sports. cause i personally enjoy sports to chill out. for recreation. not to have the stress of competition. so i'm not so competitive when it comes to sport. i just wanna have fun. and i feel like with that mindset, you're an outlier in team sports. you're gonna let your team down or their eagerness to win is gonna stress me out and take the fun away.

+1 yI like team sports like baseball and football but in other activities I am usually a lone wolf. I kinda like working out on my own with no distractions with someone unless they are a trainer or a girl.
00 ReplyAlways individual. I’m not overly keen on people lol
