I watched hockey a few times recently and I was wondering if scoring goals is just luck?

I know they aim in the net but from what I say lots a of the time the puck randomly bounces of someone and just goes in by luck

I think every sport has this to some degree , but its all about percentages , and these guys would know well how to maximise the opportunity , plus lets remember " Luck - is the way you describe the success of people you don't like " , you really do make your own luck to some degree at least.

It does have an element of chance. Sometimes the puck takes a weird bounce and goes in or maybe it hits the crossbar and bounces out. You just have to watch for the rebound.

Luck sometimes plays a part in it, but most of the time it's hard work and continually shooting the puck towards the goal so the odds of it going in are increased.

Sometimes weird bounces happen, but the players still need the skill to get the puck close enough to the net for that to happen. And most goals are the result of pure skill.

That is what I was confused about because when I watch a hockey replay the puck like hits a stick and randomly bounces in and the player wasn't even aiming there! Or I have seen the puck hit their own player by accident and go in!

I watched a little bit of basketball recently and it seems like way less luck to score the ball isn't randomly bouncing off people into the net 🤣

For baseball I think if you can't hit the ball that's it lol no luck involved 🤣
