+1 yYou question is most interesting Mr Peter.
It is actually an extremely difficult question for me to answer the way you have phrased it. I think if you would have used 'favorite' instead of 'greatest' it would have been a much easier question.
Greatest can lead to many technicalities regarding who's 'record' was better and create much controversy. Maybe that is your intent.
I will beg your leniency if I might and answer instead who are my favorite. Plus I do not know enough about any 'dead' ones to include in my list... lol
1. Connor McGregor as one of the most entertaining athletes, and as a big fan of MMA, is among my favorite for the sport only. I say that leaving out his personal life which makes me want to vomit. I believe none of what I hear and half of what I see until it is verified but I did witness him throwing a dolly through a bus window that his biggest adversary was in at the time, which does add some credibility to the rumors of the way he treats females. One he reportedly punched in the stomach without any provocation whatsoever and told her he was going to drowned her which she took so seriously fearing for her life and jumped off of his yacht into the ocean and was later rescued by a Red Cross Ship. He made no attempt to rescue her. To much of his whisky maybe?

Mr Connor with my friend Nate Diaz (yes I know Nate personally) 2 & 3. Valentina and Antonina Shevchenko. Also UFC MMA fighters. I have had a long standing crush on Valentina for several years.

4. Francis Ngannou. He was also a UFC MMA fighter but is now entering the boxing arena. I totally love his humble and lovable personality!

5. Paddy 'The Baddy' Pimblett. Another UFC MMA fighter. So cute!

You'll have to guess what my favorite sport is... lol

Did you see McGregor punch a mascot with what appeared to be full effort at halftime of an NFL game. He was also accused of locking a woman in a unisex bathroom and unlawfully restraining the SAME weekend. He is a major turd. - +1 y
@spartan55
I know, he's nuts.
I think he drinks too much whisky for one.

+1 yIn no particular order:
1. For motor racing my all time favourite sportsman: Michael Schumacher
2. For tennis: Novak Djokovic
3. Athletics: Usain Bolt
4. Football: Cristiano Ronaldo
5. Swimming: Michael Phelps
Im judging this on sports people who i have regularly seen compete. All of them did extraordinary things that other competitors could not compete with.

+1 yI'll just do football. Charles Woodson. He has a list of accomplishments as a defensive player that will never be duplicated. Won the Heisman Trophy, which is unheard of as a cornerback. Won NFL rookie of the year, won defensive player of the year, three times! Then, he finally won a Super Bowl with Green bay. The only player in NFL history to accomplish all of those things.

Nostalgia might push you to vote for some of the older athletes, but I don’t think the older athletes could keep up with the new age athletes. Tyson and Jackson were both unstoppable in their prime…. And when you take that prime and compare it to today, they would still dominate. Key word being “Athlete”

Asker+1 yMessi I would get that , but federer changed tennis forever and the people love him more, they hate djokovic :D I'd have Nadal over djokovic
Opinion Owner+1 yI get that he's the "bad guy" but Djoko has the most major wins and against the better opponents. Fed spent is earlier years kicking the shit out of Andy Roddick--not especially impressive compared to what Nadal and Djoko had to go through.
Asker+1 yFederer Nadal will always be the goats to the people, djokovic is boring and has hardly no competition till fed Nadal played him , and thank god alcaraz has arrived and schooled him at Wimbledon this year :D
Asker+1 yFederer beat sampras and agassi too, plus remember Federer out of his prime when nadal djokovic started dominating they was late 20 early 30s while he was mid late 30s 🤔 and he won 3 majors late in his career one against Nadal :D
