Earnie Shaver and George Foreman both said Ron Lyle was the hardest puncher ever. All 3 of them gave Ali brain damage and punched harder than Tyson.

All three lost to Ali because he was so good. Ali's mistake was letting them beat on him until they gassed out, but that's how he won. Mike Tyson's words were "Ali takes you out into deep waters and drowns you"

And Ron Lyle was probably the guy who gave Jerry Quarry the worst of his severe brain damage. Jerry Quarry went 12 rounds with Ron Lyle and won by decision. Jerry also fought Earnie Shaver and tko'd him in round 1. Got beat by Joe Frazier twice, who also hit really hard.
