When I was ten, two days before Canadian Thanksgiving 1963, I played golf on a kids' TV sports show called "The Miniature Sports Spectacular." Because we N*******, as folk of African heritage were politely then called (when we weren't MUCH MORE OFTEN termed the other, pejorative "N" word) were rarely allowed on golf courses, even here in Canada, except as caddies, I was routed by a white fourteen-year-old who'd obviously played before, and who, at about 140 pounds, was about twice my size. I can't recall even holding a golf club since that evening.
