Competitively gymnastics is hard on the body. As you’re constantly impacting the joints. For example, Misty Copeland was also told at 20yrs old she was too old to learn ballet. Now Misty Copeland has become one of the most famous professional ballet dancers to date. It’s up to Simone. She loves what she does and may still keep competing till she’s good and ready to retire.
My point exactly, it just determines on athletes body and can be able to still take.
For real, gymnastics is no joke on the body. Those landings put insane impact on your joints and bones with every routine. I can't even imagine the toll it takes doing that for hours every day. Major props to Simone for still being able to do it at her age, that's crazy. And yeah, like you said, she loves competing so much that it's probably worth any pain for her. Dancing is also really hard on your body, but look at Misty Copeland ballet-ing it up into her 30s. Just goes to show, as long as you love what you do and take care of your health, older doesn't always have to mean done. Simone seems like the kind of competitor who will keep going as long as she's still the best. And I think she knows her limits with her body better than anyone. If she feels she can handle another Olympics without serious risk of injury, I'm sure she'll do it. Ending her career on top with a home crowd would be such an epic way to finish. I'm sure we'll see if Simone tries to emulate Misty and dance into her 30s too - she's definitely talented enough to do it!
She already tweaked her ankle the other day from one of the completions she did at the Olympics and now walking with a boot
It depends. How old is she? I seem to remember her from a previous Olympics and she was dealing with some mental health stuff.
If she is still under 25, she may be able to scrape in to the next Olympics but if she is already around that age it’s unlikely. Gymnasts usually retire young because it’s the kind of sport which requires peak physical ability and younger athletes come through to outperform the older athletes who have passed their prime.
I can remember one woman from one of those Eastern Block countries like Estonia or something who was 40 and that was the oldest Olympic qualifier ever for that gymnastics event but that was the exception which supports the rule.
She can do whatever she wants. She’s conquered gymnastics. Do I think she’ll be back? Probably. She’ll most likely focus on building a family though with her husband that I’m not really a fan of. He’s lucky to have her.
I can definitely see her being a coach and mentor to incoming gymnasts coming from Texas. That’s currently the Mecca of amazing gymnasts now.
There's talk of her competing, but there's also talk of her making babies... So we'll just have to wait and see.
I heard that too, she said there’s goals with what her and her husband want to do before starting a family so she say we’ll see
Simone Biles has already proven she's capable of defying expectations. While 31 might seem old for a gymnast, her dedication and talent could see her continuing to compete. Think about Serena Williams still being a force in tennis at an older age. Biles might just surprise us all and keep inspiring for many more years!

I am astonished that she can still compete. That is only because she is the greatest gymnast ever. Nevertheless, she cannot defeat age. She loves the glory and will compete as long as she can win. However, just like Muhammad Ali, who also loved the glory, when she starts losing and can no longer win, she will retire. That will occur before the next Olympics because she would not make the 2028 national team and would not even qualify.
Yeah her biological clock is ticking. It's pretty common, almost a general rule for girls to finish high school, get a degree, have a career, get married before 30 and have a few children
If I am at the top of my game, I’m competing again especially if I have the strive, determination, time, love of country, and energy to do so I’m in.
Even if you were almost close to 30-31?
@Oliverlogan263 Well there are factors like mental stability, health both physical & mental, and the factors I said before. I would 100% do it if my priorities weren’t scattered or I was emotionally devastated with a loss in the family or something to shake it up…. It really depends on factors, though let’s say the stars aligned I’d do it again.
I think she have one more in her especially since it’s in LA. I am not sure she get gold again but I think she be on the podium and get silver or bronze. I just think there be younger girls on team USA that might be a little better but Simone Biles is the GOAT in Gymnastics.
I think she should really think about it more based on how she feels between now and then. If she feels like she is capable of doing it, go for it. If not then retire, either way the choice is for her to make, and her alone.
Since it's in the U. S. I think she'll compete if it was anywhere else I think she would probably retire.
Depends on her future physique. 30 years old is prime years of your body according to my personal training course.
She's playing it by ear. If she feels like she's still the G. O. A. T for Los Angeles we'll see Biles compete in her home country. The other old dominant female we have, Katie Ledecky is competing in Los Angeles.
way too early to tell... even for the next world Championships, way too early to tell
She has beaten up her body long enough time for her to rest on her laurels. She has earned it
Hmm, well she may as well I guess - shrugs - it doesn't "affect me" as the saying goes 😁
She's a mother now and has accomplished about all you can in gymnastics. She will retire.
She currently doesn’t have kids.
she is going to compete.
You never know like she said of what will be in 4 years
I feel she will retire.
Yes your girl will retire she’s already 27 years old unless she comes back and gets bored and wants to go to LA for the next Olympics
I think it'll depend more on the state of the U. S. gymnastics team. I don't consider Simone a team player. And if she can dominate she'll be back.
Didn't she already retire in 2016 when she got out of the competition due to anxiety? I thought that was her last Olympics?
No it was in 2020 or 2021 from I think was the Tokyo Olympics due to her mental health issues. She has therapy now and kept her at balance, she took time off from that to work on herself. She just competed at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France and received gold medals lately, didn’t you know
Yes I know she is competing at Paris Olympics but I thought she retired in 2020 or whatever. I remember her saying that she retired.
She's gonna keep going
Simone Biles is a special woman.
Option a
Compete unless she's with child.
