Why don't officials call fouls and travelling violations anymore in Basketball?

When I played basketball, if you so much as touched the other team, that was a foul. If you moved your pivot foot in any direction, that was a travelling violation. Now these guys can literally double dribble and the referee is not paying attention an dnever calls it. Or they just run right over one another like a cross-check in hockey and don't even get called for a foul.
