I was a kid during those years, and I remember people like Tony hawk, bam margera, and skaters like that seemed more popular, along with the tony hawk games. Maybe it's just me.

I think mostly during the 80s. It was popular quite a long time thought. Pretty sure it was still really popular during the 2000s. I was allways more an inline-skater but I had many friends skateboarding during that time. Skatepunk wise that was huge during the late 80s to 90.
