Even a great 3-point shooter can't hit more than about 40% of contested 3-point attempts. You know what, had they taken 50 more shots in the paint in the game, they'd win by 25 points instead of losing by 9 points.

This is an example of Professionals not understanding the statistics of their own chosen professions.

Playing back to the basket increases your chance of the ball going in or getting foul and putting the opposing team in foul trouble.

Also when you shoot 3's and miss that means long rebounds and teams get to go on fast breaks to get easy buckets.

i said the same thing. The Chicago Bulls won 6 championships by focusing on Paint Points and Mid-range jumpers. They used 3-pointers only sparingly. Jon Paxton in the first three-peat and Steve Kerr in the second three-peat, but sparingly. When you miss a 3, you give up easy rebounds to the opposing team.

There have been no major rules changes to Basketball since the Bull's dynasty, so the same basic strategy is actually what teams should be doing with the basketball on offense.
