The 2024 college basketball players of the year (men and women, winners of the Wooden Award), are Zach Edey of Purdue and Caitlin Clark of Iowa. Interestingly, each was on the losing team in their respective college basketball championship game. UConn beat Purdue for the Men's championship and South Carolina beat Iowa for the Women's championship.

Nothing unusual at all about this. Many teams have great players in almost every sport but the team doesn't have enough good help for the great person for the team to always be the end winner.
