Are Americans actually good at football compared to other countries?

There is no real incentive to play soccer in America past childhood. Plenty of us are good at the sport in our youth, but we stop playing and move on with adult life. A number of kids I grew up playing soccer with got college scholarships for soccer and some played professionally in other countries and I was as good or better than all of them. That said I lost interest in the game after a while. I got involved in other sports and activities as I grew older. In my 20s I use to play pick up games at the park from time to time with friends. Where I live there are typically weekend games at the park. A lot of Latin Americans play. It's not like you can really get a reliable job playing soccer in America though. There are very few soccer teams, and most of them only pay like $50K a year on average. Most people will just get a normal job and make more than that.

In Europe average players are paid like $50K-$100K a week. Big difference. Money talks and bullshit walks. No money for Americans to play soccer, means no Americans are going to take it all that serious...

I think they punch well above their weight in soccer considering the lack of intrest in the sport. Elsewhere soccer is followed and played fanatically.

I think Americans did well enough at most sports because they have a huge pool of athletes. Might not be the case anymore with obesity.

What kind of football are we talking about American tackle football or soccer? In soccer they’ve never won a World Cup the men. I would say they’re average. The women are outstanding though the Americans. The men play tonight in California opening up at 9 PM on the East Coast. They’re playing in California.

@MrChinaski Basketball came from the ancient Greeks or Romans. Back then, they used a metal ball that you had to get through a metal ring jutting out from a concrete wall and I think you wore metal wrist bands and were supposed to use those to hit the ball through the rings.
I've never seen anyone play rugby before so, I have no idea what it's like but, isn't that the one where girls in plaid mini skirts and sweaters run around trying to hit a ball with curled sticks? I'd think that'd be more like hockey.
