Here, I explain why "Unskilled Attacker" is a MYTH, and you need to be prepared to beat an expert who might be bigger than you, might surprise you somehow and land the first punch or two, might even attack you from behind, and might be amped on drugs on top of that.

Many Self-defense drills assume an "unskilled attacker", but real fight science has been exposed more and more in recent decades, so your attacker probably is NOT "Unskilled". They probably know how to throw a good punch and at least try to hold standing guard. You BETTER know how to fight via FREE SPARRING with CONTACT and GRAPPLING allowed.

You’re absolutely right to question the “unskilled attacker” idea. In tennis and in fighting, your level only shows under pressure against real resistance. 🥊
If someone is bigger, trained, maybe on drugs, and gets the first shot, only alive training with contact, clinch, and grappling gives you usable reactions. Drills help, but free sparring, stress exposure, and conditioning are what keep you functional when it turns ugly.
