I saw that video. She's a real role model. To answer you I most likely could not as a 5'2 and 103 pound woman. Men are stronger in general and then I am also a petite woman, not a chance :( I do carry pepper spray but in somd situations it is useless (like when working out like the girl in the video I wouln't have it with me, or if you are grabbed in such way that you cannot get it

I could also say more, but I don't want to appear racist... I'm a racist though, or at least a race realist. Her mistake was she relaxed around a ____. Never relax around a ____. The difference is 25% compared to a 1% chance (of dealing with anything else) of having to fight for your life. If you like the odds then don't judge people right? Just saying... I'm going to judge and take precautions.

I agree in that you need to look a person in the eye and make an assessment. no point dealing with crazy. sometimes ya don't get that chance and have to have your gun in holstered while watching netflix.. Stupid thinking will turn first guy loose for someone else to deal with. this guy should be shot dead next week.

Being a realist is hard in current-day society. Even when my ____ friend agrees... these white sociopaths will hate on me for just pointing something out. It's true though. They don't have the same issue with comparing different breeds of dogs and their probable behavior... but they go blind when it's us. 25% chance or that 1 in 100 1% chance with anything else... just saying. Exactly. Not everyone can be a martial arts expert. And why would anyone want to grapple with someone who is bigger and stronger than them, let alone with more than one attacker?
A gun is the only equalizer.

If she was armed, the old lady in the last photo could turn those punks in to yelping, wounded puppies. No muss, no fuss. What's wrong with that? Is an attacker better off having their bones broken or eyes gouged.
And so what if they die? They deserve whatever happens.

So what's you're point? That everyone should take some basic self defense techniques? Learn the weak spots - eyes, nose, throat, groin, feet? That's a good idea. But it's still unrealistic to expect everyone to become a combat expert. Some people are too small, old, or frail.

Another piece of advice is to be aware of your surroundings. That girl left herself vulnerable by letting that guy in when nobody else was around.

Since I didn’t see the video the first time around, I had no idea it was in the gym. There are plenty of things in the gym that could have assisted her - that she could have also used as a weapon. Like loose weights/dumbbells.

@Lliam Yes, that’s good advice all around. But now you are implying that she brought this upon herself, which is untrue. She can’t predict the future. It doesn’t matter if she let him in or not. The guy could have just smashed the glass or broken the door to get in. Criminals do not follow laws and rules, that’s why they are criminals.

I didn't mean to sound like I was blaming her. Nobody brings this kind of thing on themselves. But even she said that she wouldn't open the door to a guy in the future if she was there alone.

My only point was to be aware of your surroundings. That's the first rule of self defense.
Threats come out of nowhere. Robbers and rapists try to catch people by surprise, and they usually pick on people who look easy to overcome.

@Lliam my question is if women feel prepared to handle such a person, and if not, to consider doing so. This woman was strong, although not precise nor prepared to fight.
Martial arts can help build thinking and response skills.
Anyone could make the error of letting him in. Looking at his face, he was messed up, I'd suggest always looking someone in the eyes and face before deciding anything. That's what they are projecting, then respond appropriately.
I'd bet that dude is re-released, he didn't get anywhere. so someone else will have to deal with him...
