Can I use a 2.5A 250V~ on my original Xbox when it says 220-240v~ 1.2A?

I assume you are talking about the power supply. The answer is yes, you can use a 2.5A in place of a 1.2A. But probably not the other way around <- that means you *might* be able to do it, but unless you know for sure you shouldn't try it..

Both the input and output voltage should match. (That's the number with the V). The amps (the number with the A) you can substitute a smaller number with a larger number. That number is the maximum amount it can supply, but the device you are using it on might not need that much.

Everyone in this thread is an idiot. Look at the output voltage on the power adapter eg 12V (not 240V, that's the input). Look at the output amperage eg 1.2A. Now you can replace that power adapter with anything that has exactly the same voltage and the same or more amperage. If the original was 12V 1.2A then a replacement could be 12V 1.5A, 12V 2A, etc.
