If this is a real thing good for them! I never actually saw the cops show up in either video so i don't know if this is for show. if this is fabricated. Or if it's real do they actually call the cops and do the cops actually do anything.

There have been cops in some of the videos. Most of these are in Canada though. These are real there are several groups of them on youtube

Probably a good thing but how much is it doing the right thing or getting their 15 minutes of fame - Could they not get all the info needed and handed it over to cops, no fuss but they need the oxygen of attention.

I'm all for the sting operation, but why don't they simply turn the recording over to the authorities as evidence? Why do they feel the need to post it on the internet?

Since videos like this can definitely serve to make pedophiles more skilled at evading potential sting operations, I can see no other reason for plastering them on Youtube other than the folks carrying out the operation want to virtue signal how great they are and get their time in the spotlight as do-gooders.

And I'm convinced Mr. Volcano in the first video is doing this for reasons that go well beyond doing the right thing. I also think it's probably only a matter of time before Mr. Volcano snaps and hurts someone before there is a trial.

And what other crime would this sort of public sting operation be acceptable? Should we do it to thieves? People involved in traffic violations? People arrested for DUIs? Perjury? Illegal drug use? And suppose a video like this is published

I'm all for the sting. Lock 'em up, I say. However, leave the sting to trained professionals who know the rule of law, who know the rules of arrest, who know how evidence should be gathered and presented, and who have no interest in seeking public attention and virtue signaling.
