Is there a Way to Use a Universal Remote for this TV?

So, I been trying to learn this on my own, to program a "Universal remote, since late teens, just can't figure it out and it seems so easy. ok... here's the information from back of tv, this tv is also great.
Serial Number-28552709, Model Number-RS 1972 C822, Manufactured September 1993 - 43 0132B, Chassis Model Number-190602-00AA. I have a really nice RCA long black Universal remote for my other older tv, the remote even has a Led Backlighting button on it, which is very cool. I would same one.

the key isn't the model of the TV, you just need the manufacture and a universal remote with a code booklet, the remote will have the instructions to manually program a 3 or 4 digit code (sometimes multiple for the brand of tv) plug the make and model of the universal remote into google and add ". pdf manual code" don't trust the top links... should be what you are looking for about half way down past the ads. Or if you prefer, just buy another universal remote and there should be a code booklet and manual with the packaging... don't throw that away, store it in a safe place if you ever need it again. Also, if you live in the USA and are wanting over the air TV signal, don't' forget you will need a converter box. Otherwise, TV will work fine for movies / Cable / Sat and what not~ hope that helps.

Get the RCA Three Device Universal Remote RCRN03BE, it works like magic. I have an old flatscreen TV and the stock remote can't be found anywhere. This RCA remote is truly universal you don't even have to mess around with the codes.

I have this Universal Remote for my other older tv, its a great remote, gotten at walmart, it even lights up if you need to see the buttons, it's called, RCA, hey, is that the same one you're talking about? this one is real long, and black

@SandandWaves Yeah sounds like the same remote that I have. Their are a lot of remotes with the codes that are compatible with Magnavox.

1. Go to YT and see if there's a video to tell you how to do it for that specific remote.
2. Go to the website of the company and see if they can tell you or allow you to DL directions for it
3. Go someplace where they sell T. V. gear and ask a teller if they know how it's done and can show you.
Usually, you need to type in some kind of info about the T. V. on the remote to get it to work with that telly. It's been about a decade since I last did it so, I'm no help, at the moment, other than what I've said here.

My advice is to make sure the Remote you got is compatible for the Magnavox TV, also would not hurt for you to contact Magnavox and tell them you need a replacement remote for your Magnavox TV from 1993... If you could find Serial numbers etc to the TV that would help a lot

Universal remotes can be programmed manually so maybe you can do this. Setting the remote manually requires the remote to "read" the remote on the TV and copy it.

If the tv is remote capable the yes a universal remote can be programmed for it. Did the tv have a remote at one time that worked with it?

Instruction manual for the remote? Usually there is a scan mode that you can use to find the frequency the TV uses.

Yes, but this is one of those things that you just have to read and do. It took me several attempts to read through the instructions to figure it out myself. Just because visual learning is your best option doesn't mean that you can't learn things other ways; it is just a harder task.

I don't know how to use a universal remote on that relic of a TV, all that I know is that these relics work great as a fish tank.

Probably yeah, the universal has a list of codes for certain TVs when you buy it but it is a 28 year old tv though

Tv must have remote to start with. That proves, at some point tv was working with remote hence tv can receive signals from remote.
