What does this tick mean on Facebook messenger?

The purple circle with the tick inside.

Also, does it tell you if someone's seen the message if you're not friends? I looked it up online that if someone has seen the message the "blue tick" becomes their profile pic, but would it do that if they aren't friends with you?
This is a purple tick so I'm just wondering what it means.

if its your first message to them, no, it doesn't show when they've seen it until they choose to "accept" the message where they can then reply and such. That tick basically says "we've sent it your side, but its not delivered" as thats when it fills to a blue circle

It means your phone has sent the message to Facebook but Facebook has not delivered the message to the recipient.

If you are not friends with them then Facebook might conceal some information for privacy reasons e. g. whether they have actually read your message.

I hope it delivers. I'm basically telling this guy his fiance messages other men that she loves them, not in a platonic way

I think the recipient did not realize you messaged them. Messenger often hides message requests from unknown people, I don't know how or when.

Yeah, I dunno. I mean I dont really know the guy but I dont think many people would ignore a message and not look at what it says. Especially guys, I mean its not like they'll be afraid of creeps like women might be
