I do sort of the same thing. If things aren't in the correct pocket I don't know where they are. Keys go either in right pants pocket or right jacket pocket. Driver's license and credit card go in left front pants pocket. And phone goes in left rear pants pocket. If these things aren't there, I don't know where they are.

It depends on what I do but I've it in my coat pocket/back pocket or my bag if I don't have any pockets.
