If you’re the type of texter to use lots of emojis, why do you personally use them?

I get to emphasise points or emotions as I do too sometimes but after every sentence or so why? Like after ‘yes’ then inserting star eye emoji or going to eat food. An emoji of food etc?

I don't use them that much and only use a smile and laugh ones mostly, but I use them because I find even the greatest of writers on here come off a bit dry to me. :-D (see what I did there)

They probably could convey a lot more emotions if they summoned their most descriptive writing style for every exchange, but online communication in rapid form is very different from creative writing. Sometimes all there is to say is, "How are you doing? :-)"

And that one smiley face completely transforms the tone in ways I find absent in the text exchange. So I actually make a conscious effort to use emojis here and there! :-D

One thing about me that maybe hardly anyone could guess with my long-winded and dry writings on here is that I got the curse of the resting happy face. I'm smiling and laughing 90+% of the time when I talk to people, even for subjects that seem to be of a neutral tone if transcribed in text.

I really enjoy how that resting happy face affects my in-person interactions with people. But I find it absent online. A lot more people can question my motives in ways I find absent in person when I'm all smiling and laughing. The friendliness I intend (I'm grinning right now as I type this) doesn't come across in text so well. So I find emojis like the smile and laugh one very useful to try to restore what I lose in text that I already had in person.

I envy some people on here who say they are as they come across on here across their text. I don't think that's true of me at all. If you met me in person, you'd probably find me all whimsical, humorous, maybe a bit boisterous, goofy, but eager to listen when you speak. I value body language and tone of voice so much both in what I express and in determining what other people tend to express. Text is such a dry medium to me and ill-suited to convey my personality. :-D

I wish I had a grinning emoji (the one that's a huge smile showing teeth). Well, I have one on my keyboard, but it changes to this 😁 when I use it on gag.

@TrueConfection I would definitely abuse an emoji that captures my neutral face! I think it's something almost like this from my early 20s -- I was a little bit happier than usual because we were at Karaoke and I got my turn selecting songs. But I seem to look happier to most people than usual to the point where a constant question is what I'm grinning and so happy about, and then I didn't think I was so happy... but then I'm like, "Now I'm happy that you asked!" :-D

You still sound like my husband's late friend who was wild and risky. He'd also keep the guys out drinking. Anyhow, he had the biggest heart and was the guy everyone knew they could count on no matter what the situation was. I'm betting you're that friend too!

@TrueConfection I find my best when people need me the most and the worst of the worst when no one needs me. It's a pro as long as people need me. But it's disastrous when I feel like no one does.

Just remember to remind yourself when you aren't feeling needed, that there will always be people who need you. My husband's friend felt that way and that's when his risk taking and self challenges would get to levels of insanity. It finally caught up with him.

@TrueConfection It might sound callous but that's a good death as I see it. It sounded like he died according to his beliefs and not due to old age or elements outside his control. I want to die this way before I become helpless. And there's "want" vs. "need" as I see it. I put "need" at the extremities.

That’s fair enough, makes sense then. I think maybe some people who over use them makes the message it self come off as less serious or childlike or sometimes if it’s an unusual emoji I just wonder how that would look like in real life so hard or picture haha
