Why did my phone charge itself?

Thirty minutes ago my phone was at 1 percent and it died. I just plugged it in and it said it was at 19% the instant I plugged it in. Anyone know why this happened and has it happened to any of y'all? I have a galaxy note 9 by the way

That kind of thing happens when a battery is at the end of its life cycle.

Basically, it has trouble maintaining a given voltage and will even get worse as the battery gets hotter. When the phone is turned off and not drawing power from the battery, the battery will produce a higher percentage reading.

Sounds like there’s something wrong with the battery itself. That’s happened to me in the past. I ended up having to purchase a new battery and it worked better after that.

What that means when your phone does that is that it isn’t holding a charge. 19% was the true battery power, but it dropped down to 1% and 0% because it was off the charger. Definitely time for a new battery.
