For the last seven days I didn't use, or go anywhere near, the internet. Complete abstinence (so to speak). Have others tried the same?

I didn't even check emails, and for most of that time my flip-phone was in a drawer (I don't even have a so-called smartphone). Strangely enough, I didn't miss at all the pointless rumours, gossip, opinions masquerading as "news", and all the petty small-mindedness, stupidity and hate. My mood actually improved :)
I've never done this, because my smartphone controls my whole life, it defines me as a person.
Never tried this, but it sounds like a great idea! :)
Yes, I've tried this at least once

I should add, however, that if you run a small business that relies upon the internet in some way, then perhaps you should only attempt this if you ever get the chance to take a holiday. I don't have to worry about constantly being in contact with anyone, which is one of the reasons why I did it. Even so, if modern life is driving you insane, then perhaps the time has come to ditch it.
