Just how high will gas go?

Theoretically it should actually be cheaper when everything switches to electric or hydrogen powered vehicles (which I think is a better idea). The reason being the demand will be so low that they will practically be giving it away. However, when it stops being produced as much, the process will soar. By then, the only people driving petrol fueled vehicles will be the absolute laggards. I can't estimate how far or soon in the future this will happen.
My advice is, for your next car get a hybrid electric car. Toyota are good with the technology. That way, you always have a reserve of fuel in case the battery runs flat, and using the fuel also charges the battery so you don't need to worry about plugging it in anywhere. They've been around long enough that you can get them second hand with only around 50,000 miles on them which is infancy for a Toyota. The fully electric vehicles are still a bit problematic. My cousin recently hot this brand new fully electric Hyundai thing. It cost her $60,000!
First long trip, ran down the battery, stopped at a charging station to charge it up. The fucking thing just didn't turn on once it reached full charge. Because they couldn't turn it on, it couldn't even be put in neutral to get it onto the tow truck! Utter shit.
Yeah that’s crazy with some but I wonder what will happen with fuel prices when it’s not needed as much, we still have race cars that will continue the sport and diesel trucks will be around awhile and classic cars will need it. I like the Chevy volt , it’s similar to how the Prius works
Yeah, the Chevy Volt would be a good choice too. I've heard they can get 50 miles just on the battery alone. So that's a while before you have to start using the fuel. Diesel is actually a much more sustainable type of fossil fuel compared to the others, so I would imagine that should be around a bit longer. They can make a type of it from plants too. However, I've noticed the price of that is even more than the standard petroleum and it shouldn't be.
Oh yeah bio fuel from vegetable oil waste, or maybe alcohol fuel if there were better ways to produce without such cost since those barely have any bad emissions
If gas goes to $40a gallon ill find a way to work from home and have everything delivered to me.
A gas station in California sold premium gas for 69cents a gallon the other day. Unfortunately the manager who was on duty got fired for his mistake. It cost the station 16 thousand dollars for the mistake.
It actually says $409. Per gallon on the picture but yeah most people won’t be driving, just be trucks and buses
I still wouldn't own an electric car. They are dangerous
Yeah it doesn’t seem like the battery technology is perfected yet and they go on fire like some cellphones used to
Yes when the batteries get too hot they burst in flames. If they are in an accident the fire department has to disconnect the batteries before they can get victims out of the vehicle
Just like a house fire it seems
Exactly. I'll never own an electric vehicle
Yeah maybe bicycle 😊
I'd probably die of a heart attack from riding a bike. Lol
Oh come on, we are around the same age and I go to Jones beach from the the park on the bike path and back on the weekends each summer without a problem
I haven't been on a bike in 30 years
Oh damn, it’s actually quite healthy and free parking at the beach
Thanks for the mho
No problem
I lived in a backward third world country during nine years of war, where all of the super powers were backing the enemy. Gas? Food? Electricity? Water? Are you joking? Except for those who died by actual war weapons, everybody else lived. (They still have more financially comfortable lives than we do, are generally happier, and have a safer and kinder society than us.)
Don't panic y'all.
These greedy oil companies are just looking for excuses to raise gas prices. Was there just an earthquake on Mars? Hike up gas prices. Did a polar bear sneeze? Hike up gas prices.
They were going to raise the prices anyway.
Plus, shouldn't we already be steering away from fossil fuels because of global warming?
An important part of the recent inflation was reducing mortgage rates which caused a sudden spike in housing demand. The cost of housing skyrocketed. So did everything else. Another part was the pandemic itself and lots of incorrect decisions taken there.
The war related financial problems are fairly recent.
by the way in SoCal gas is over 6$ and a full tank can cost over 60$.
Unfortunately the USA has an oil driven economy instead of things like food and other things we need but there is no shortage of oil, they just stopped them from getting to it right now but maybe this will push for a better resource than fossil fuel but that’s what pretty much raised the price for everything else
Way too high, already over 6 a gallon here and we have no mass transit options, its 40 miles to the city for me... so no deliveries this far for groceries or anything. Without gas or a car, I'm cut off from everything.
The biggest thing people need to realize is semi companies are raising costs to cover fuel prices, which means anything delivered by a truck is going to go up in price. Odds of those prices going down when/if fuel drops... unlikely. Trucking companies and especially the independent trucker have been hurting for too long to do that.
Farm equipment all runs on fuel too, so going to cost a lot more to grow food and get it to the cities.
Yeah it’s a problem in certain areas that are more rural and the infrastructure isn’t there for electric
People here been riding their quads into town on the highway or edge of it, illegally cause they get better mileage... I think we'll see more and more of that.
Yeah and dirt bikes too, it’s going to get out of hand soon

Well, it went up over $3.00 in just the PAST 16 months, so, it'll probably be up to $10.00 a gallon by the time Joe is done fucking us over. Once Trump gets back in and opens the pipeline, again, it'll plunge back down to at LEAST SEMI--normal until things flatten out and it'll continue to drop after that.
I hope you’re right, it’s getting crazy and inflation
I hope so, too but, if cheating got this asshole elected the first time, could it happen again?
I don’t think he will run again in his 80s and his approval rating is so low now
According to his press secretary, he Is planning on running again! Except for a few butt-hurt, brain dead lefties and loads of dead people, nobody's gonna vote for him so, it'll be a huge waste of his time and money if he even lives that long!
Definitely a waste who funds his campaign and taking away votes from another candidate that is better
If only people WOULD vote for the right person for the job!! Most cast their votes for whoever they think looks prettier, or some other such petty, superficial reasons.
Or their race or gender
Well, that didn't seem to be a factor in the last election. Both were white men.
I don't know. Gas prices in our area in Southeast US are already starting to drop a bit.
Remember that gas prices always rise in late Spring anyway, in preparation for the increased demand of Summer driving.
Yeah it’s leveling off here
I wouldn't put it past this administration to have them rise until people can no longer drive gas dependent vehicles and either take electric or other transport means.
Yeah we might have to start handing them in because the fuel is unaffordable, there goes all the trucks that transport everything
Biden can walk his geriatric ass to come and claim my car if he wants to strip me from it that bad.
That is part of the idea actually. When the war ends and prices ease slightly, they'll slap taxes on fuel to deter people. You'll have to be running a logistics business to get an exemption. It will be part of the policy to lower emissions. Which isn't such a bad thing. The problem is that we've had the tech to make electric vehicles for decades but our addiction to petroleum has caused us to neglect building the infrastructure to accommodate the necessary changes. So now we're going to have to pay the literal price. It's the only way unfortunately.
The situation is such that we're already in a severe crisis. You'd think the climate scientists are being alarmist, but they're not even telling you the whole story. The truth is, we're in for 1000 years and counting of above average temperatures and unexpected natural disasters if we stopped all emissions now and sent everyone back to the stone age. So the problem is already far worse than anyone would like to admit. So to answer your question, no. Nuking the only realistic option and building shit infrastructure won't help at all. We're already deep in the shit and it will take more than the lifetime of the newest baby to dig ourselves out. So the rational thing to do is ease into the new tech and not make any rash moves which will hinder our path to the eventual goal which will result in delaying its achievement even longer.
I would be happy to have gas at $4.09 a gallon. No such luck though. I bet mine gets to $10 sooner than yours.
Actually if you look closer it’s $409 a gallon
@IsoUser Yeah I remember it being about 75 cents
Ohhhh, SHIT!! When it gets that high at least there will be no traffic on the freeway.
@daniela1982 you still in Wisconsin. I just drove from the Top to the Bottom of Wisconsin. The closer I got to Chicago the more it cost. Here its 4.23 a gallon
Lots of bicycles and maybe a few mopeds
@humanearth
I've lived in California for years, but originally for a better climate. Sadly got into a shit political climate.
@daniela1982 now that's the truth about California. Every time I go there. It seems to get worse and worse
I think it will be in the 7 to 8 dollar a gallon at this time next year. It won't be long before the citizens demand a recall election.
Hopefully not $10 a gallon
@Likes2drive there are companies that are outfitting their pumps to register over ten bucks a gallon.
Expecting the worse I guess
Yeah like when they had to fix the clocks on the computers for Y2K
Apparently just judging from California at $10.00 per gallon apparently the sky is the limit. The federal government needs to release some of the strategic resources to somewhat stabilize the economy, that is just my humble opinion
Yeah until Biden is gone or the war in Ukraine is over
Yeah now they are in our gas tank
Till People are broke and have no money left.
Then we are trapped and can't bug out when the shit hits the fan
Yeah maybe we make a conversion to alcohol and make our own fuel
That and wood gasification
Steam engine powered vehicles too maybe horse and buggy again, electric cars just burst into flames like some cellphones
We're gonna have to start paying as much as Europeans
Yeah probably
And going back to manual transmissions too in order to save gas
I'm just gonna ride a bike. I live in a city anyway. I never need to go more than 5 miles from my place :/
That works but sucks in the rain
I live in CA, what's rain?
Oh , lol, so much drought there I guess you would welcome it
During the war people used to run their cars by burning wood and running off the fumes. I'm not sure how it worked. Just saw it in a book about the Home Front and how people coped with rationing and no gas or rubber for tires.
Just make sure you are always driving down hill.
Impossible to answer depends how much of an idiot Brandon decides to be hopefully they’ll go down but he’s still refusing to lift the new regulations on oil companies so I don't know.
Yeah it’s all up in the air at this point
As high as it needs to.
The problem is not gas, it's not delivery, it's not even production. The problem is speculators and business gamblers trying to gauge what they can get away with.
This is why you need MORE government intervention, to stop such price gouging.
It's $4 here in Texas though I could see it hitting $5 during the winter time.
You never know
Until Trump gets elected. $13 in some places and $ 8.50 to $9 on low side
Yeah it’s going to get $10 I bet soon enough
Y'all got a bike or ever bus?
I do but my job is 10 miles away and it rains often enough and can’t carry groceries on it
@Likes2drive Ha, I added a trunk to mine, along with saddlebags... definitely can carry some groceries but it sucks if I buy too much.
@Aerissa_Jade Yeah that gets hard to pedal up hill
Home groccery deliveries
True for an extra charge
That's all good, but what if you live 40 plus miles from the nearest city
Not as high as a medical bill.
Yeah there’s always other things that cost more that we need
Similar to my health plan except it takes up to $3200 before it’s completely covered per year deductible but I blew through that already with a 6 day hospital stay recently
Would be nice if they did that here
$10.00-$15.00 a gallon
Yeah that’s what it’s starting to look like if things don’t change
@Likes2drive fill your car before it goes to E.. Guess how much I had to pay yesterday for gas.. $20.00 to fill. usually its $17.00. $20.00 for 5 gallons and it was a bit overfill too.
@Likes2drive news.yahoo.com/...prices-surge-even-152015519.html
US gas prices will surge even higher thanks to shrinking stockpiles and refinery bottlenecks, Rystad Energy says
US gas prices are likely to surge even higher, as inventories continue to dwindle and refineries struggle to keep up with demand, energy consultancy Rystad has said.
Wholesale gasoline prices have fallen more than 10% since June 6, according to Bloomberg data. They have dropped alongside oil prices, which have cooled as investors' concerns about a global recession have grown.
Luckily I get 40 mph but it takes about $56 to fill it back up
@Likes2drive unlike your name.. lol. I hate to drive. Even before this bullshit gas thing.. Before Trump. WAY BEFORE OBAMA.. During Bushes Time. I hated driving. Ever since I got my license in 1995, I hated driving
Yeah if you’re in the city or close to it I could see why , I use to hate driving a tractor trailer in the city like Brooklyn and queens, now I drive in Suffolk county only
@Likes2drive I just go grocery shopping and back. If anything - I go into NJ. I seriously hate driving. In Manhattan I walk all over the damn place
Yeah I walk in Manhattan everywhere too, I even take the train from here into it so I don’t have to drive there and pay for a parking garage, less aggravation
@Likes2drive whats this omni shit? Metrocards are gone?
Got me, I haven’t been on a subway or bus in years
higher than the whole sky
What goes up must come down 😊
