Activation locked iPad?

So I have an iPad that’s on iOS 15.1 and it’s activation locked to someone else’s email, the person I got it off owns a shop on eBay and said it’s fixable and he isn’t the owner of the iCloud that’s linked to the iPad. Does anyone know how I can get past the activation iCloud lock please

Being an Apple product owner of many devices, sounds like you need to do a hard reset that will completely wipe the memory and settings. I have never had to do this with an iPad, but I have done it with a Mac.

If that doesn’t work, my tech savvy SO that is sitting next to me said to reply to this thread and he may be able to help you. However, a factory reset should bring it to its like new software state.

You may have to do some updates when you get your iCloud linked and working. Let me know if this helps you.

I have been wanting to sell my old Mac computers but didn't because it might have stuff still on it. Will this work with computers too?

Yes. It worked on an iMac of mine that I traded in for a new one with Apple. Erased everything down to the basic OS.

Sounds like the only thing you can do is a support request since you have proof of purchase:

You will have to get that information from the seller. that or your money back. How do you know it hadn't been stolen? Thieves steal things and then sell them on line. That is why they steal because it is easy to sell the stuff.

I’ve checked the imei through apple and it’s not registered as stolen or lost I’ve bought 2 iPads of them as they buy and sell unfortunately they don’t have the information I need

Connect the iPad to a computer with iTunes installed and try to restore it, Google will tell you how

Otherwise go to an iStore and see if they can help you. If they can't just ask for a refund.
