Nah, don't be silly.

So called "deepfakes" are just an advancement on previous fakery technology as old as civilisation.

They highlight the importance of education and understanding not everything you see and hear can be believed at face value.

It's the natural evolution of politics.

When JFK was elected the nature of his Character was central. Up until Reagan that was more or less true.

Since then it's been personality that matters.

Trump and his cohorts managed to push the last US election back towards character again (not to say Obama isn't of impeccable character) but the republican strategy seems to be "anyone is better than the democrats" so it'll be a while before character drives them again

Maybe I'm being naive and optimistic, but I don't think so. Of course you're going to have the Q anon, conspiracy theory kooks that will believe anything. But hopefully when people see that whatever video they are looking at is only being presented by one outlet such as Fox News, then hopefully the rest of the world will be able to see that it's BS. Of course, Fox News viewers believe everything they are told.
