My radio brother from another mother I wish I had an HF setup right now so we could reg chew as they say. As for me I’m a General & the good news is that I ordered the Extra Class book & I’m currently studying to upgrade. Right now I’m limited to 2 meters, 70cm & Echolink. Within the near future I’ll be working on my ham shack & back on the air. HOA & antenna restrictions.
My echolink is not working,
As for a antenna set-up for two meter and 70 meters you can make a jpole as a base antenna and for a super cheap moble/portable antenna
I have use this for meteor and moon bounce
I have also used it as a regular base and for fox hunts
Any Echolink repeaters in your area? Give me a node number & I’ll grab a portable & dial in.
For HF use a random wire and run all though out the house. Get a cheap MFJ or make an homebrew antenna tuner, SWR meter. Then for a counterpoise/ground used the metal water pipes, if the pipes are the new pex. Use the electric ground. They both ground to the same place
I ran 11 meters and ham HF bands this way when I was young and broke
If you were near me. I could help you
One minute, have to help the wife with someting
https://images.app.goo.gl/ZqYXU9dXBFxbX5jP6 I love antennas & that would be perfect for EME & 9 years ago on my old house I had a diamond X 200A on the roof & I loved that antenna & also 2200 ft above sea level as well. Now I’m in an RF hole a little above sea level.
My 1st store bought HF antenna granted its a CB antenna but worked great on 10, CB and 12 meters.
I’m not set up unfortunately because of living situation, my Yaesu is having issues on the receiving end
