Why do so many people STILL think it's safe to post personal information on SM sites?

Okay, let's get the 1st amendment freedom of speech issue out of the way. First off, if you need some old, torn piece of paper posing as a so-called constitutional document saying whether you have the right to speak freely or not, then you are already in BIG trouble. P. S. Everyone already has that so-called right with or without some piece of parchment. We, as human beings, create that right for ourselves and if we allow an individual or a group to come in and infringe or take away that right, then that's our own fault. So, with SM, yes people can post whatever they want as long as it falls under the SM site's T & C.

TikTok, for example, promotes vids showcasing everything from sewing and home improvement vids to toxic soft porn OF vids, to the incitement and promotion of cringy, toxic racial hatred vids (which in some cases the vids are 5 to 10 years old pure clickbait), and cutesy pet vids.

Dating sites like AFF, for example, also allow for users to upload images and even vids of themselves.

The internet has and will always have a lot of garbage and/or danger associated with it. Even if the internet didn't exist, there would still be (and still are) dangers on every street corner. However, the internet and sites like TT and AFF make it very easy for THOUSANDS of people to find out where someone lives, goes to school, and works. The Netflix show "You" does a pretty decent job of showing how easy it is for internet voyeurs to get information on people. Take the recent and still on-going case of the 4 University of Idaho students who were reportedly murdered. They were constantly on SM to include the constant uploading of pointless, attention-whore, narcissistic, "Hey, look at me!!" vids of themselves on TT, showcasing the interior/exterior of their home and possibly their address).

It's not up for news media nor government to regulate. It's up to the individual and the SM sites at the end of the day to practice safety. Keep your private life private:)
