It's pretty easy these days to get doxxed, so do you take precautions on keeping your private information safe?

What little I can, yes. I recently discovered just how easy it really is to find out a ton of information about people.
I feel kinda dirty searching them but they were attacking our police force and I saw the inner toddler who just doesn't like following the rules so I searched them.
Holy shit, they're even worse people than I thought, their records were longer an a CVS receipt with multiple convictions for kidnapping, 1st degree attempted robbery, habitual molestation of a child (one was convicted 4 separate times and served 10 years for it), obstructing a peace officer, DUI, aggravated assault, stalking, harassment (no surprise since they routinely do it on video), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, I was damn right about them.
They should be careful as well because if I wanted to, I could post their addresses but I won't because that's not legal although most of their addresses are already publicly available as a penalty that comes with being a sex offender as several of them are is that their name, picture and current address is registered and posted on the registry every year but damn😶01 Reply- +1 y
You don't have to be convicted of anything to have your address online. In many states if you're a registered voter your information is all online and easily found

Let us be clear. There are social media and then there is other. I NEVER use my real name anywhere on social media. I also use a VPN. As far as legit merchants online I have no issues using them. Also in almost every situation, there is no difference between using a store POS device and entering the numbers into a webpage. ALL the information goes to the same place. Social media is where you need to be careful. In all honesty, I will not tell anybody online my real name or my address unless I have physically met the person and trust them. Common sense will carry you a long way in dealing with this.

Yes. I'll never share enough information for someone to know enough of my identity. I don't share my skin colour, religion, email, other social media accounts, city, last name, and other pieces of personal information.

I use a fake name on Facebook and will not give my location to anyone outside of text message or email since I have received death threats from 3 people in these 5 years.

Well, when it comes to my social security number and other equally sensitive information, then yes, I’m quite careful about that.

But you don't care about your phone number, email, name, address, family info?
- +1 y
Oh, phone number I don’t care about.
Name? Not really care much
Email? No, don’t care
Family info? Well, I do since it’s not me personally
Address? Depends on who I’m talking to. I won’t just put it out there for every single person.

Anyone who knows your name can get all that info

To be honest, I haven’t shared any of this publicly.
I have to certain people.
1.2K opinions shared on Technology & Internet topic. Yes, I am very careful. There are a lot of things I don't do. I do not do any banking or bill paying on line. I do not have an EZ Pass, I keep a special credit card for all online transactions, I limit the personal information that I put out there. If some online deal seems a little sketchy to me I will not bite. My kids think I am paranoid but I have been to a couple of computer security seminars and have seen how unsecure a lot of these systems really are.
00 ReplyYes, security and privacy are my main concerns, and I'm always very careful about what I'll reveal about myself online (which is usually nothing at all).
00 ReplyYes, fruitloopery is rife online. As are bitter and jealous people on Gag. Or simply anonymous people who gleefully and unfathomably want to call me ugly, despite being so beautiful...

Our GOV allows marketing companies to sale our info which they rip out of of voting records which is public information in some states and stuff we buy online and out our info on. Using the same username over and over & email for everything & putting your gender and birthdate on your email and simply just using your real name or giving away your number can all easily lead back to anyone.
