Have you ever used an Apple AirTag?

I just bought one last week. It is a cool little device about the diameter of a half-dollar coin, that can be put in your luggage or whatever, to keep track of where it is. You use your smartphone to monitor its location. I sent one to a friend of mine by mail, and I am tracking its progress as it is going through the postal system and traveling to him. Interesting technology.

I sent that AirTag to a friend and he is hanging on to it for a week. I'm seeing where he is going on a day to day basis and it is cool to watch. He did get an alert on his iPhone saying that he was in the presence of an AirTag that was not registered to him. So I guess it has that feature to help limit people using them to track people without them knowing.

Sounds cool but how long does the battery last and what is the cost

The battery lasts approximately one year. They cost $30. Another thing about it is if it is in the presence of someone with a smart phone, and the owner is not present with his smart phone, that person will be notified after so long that they are in the presence of one. This helps prevent people for using it as sort of a "spying" device. LOL

It's actually been around for much longer. the Airtag is expensive for what it is.

I sent one to a friend of mine and watched it as it traveled through the postal system. It was fun seeing where all it went. And then my friend drove around with it for several days before mailing it back. Cool how those work. // And there are different brands, I found out. So it isn't just the Apple device.
