We are living in the information age, and distractions and temperaments are all over the place.

Opinions, beliefs and content are all over the place.

These are far from relatively simple times.

Anyone old enough will understand. Probably even people young enough.

Attention seeking and egos galore! And everyone and anyone can be famous these days!

And that's not even to mention mass media and local media apps such as WhatsApp, Messenger, etc.

I really miss the good 'ol days of local television, VCR, Blu-rays and simple electronic games and devices.

Heck, even just modern day phone games would've been sufficient enough.

Ali, the information age has led us to wish we could forget many of the things we have learned on the internet.

But in the end, it's all about cost vs benefits and how one manages their time.

I think it all has some benefit, or at least is not bad, if used properly. I think people are slowly starting to realize technology isn't as great as it was made out to be. There is a growing number of people who are disconnecting themselves from social-media.

It can be entertaining, but objectively, it's probably 10% beneficial (entertainment, useful information), 90% negative (time-waster, idiotism, etc).

I can't really imagine life without technology. I didn't really use technology much at all until I was ~10 (other than a TV), but once I started, it really took over my life over time.
Only now I'm really starting to try to better manage my use, which primarily means reduction of use, and trying to restrict my use primarily to productive tasks.

I think if parents don't teach children how to live without technology, especially without the most toxic elements (social-media being one), then it will be exceedingly difficult for these children when grown up to live adequately: having real human connections, connecting with humanity on a deep level (through literature), and being confident (especially for women, as social-media is a large contributory factor to girls' low self-esteem nowadays).

This question has became redundant. Social media is a way to pass time and whether you think it’s a waste of time and energy is totally up to you. Social media isn’t going away. I’ve found that we are in a in between generation that is most likely never going to be happy because we are shifting from little to no technology to now gearing into futuristic technology.

Yes it is, but it is also up to how you use it. It always baffles me when people follow toxic people or trolls than complain about toxic posts in their feed on Facebook, Twitter or whatever. That just doesn't make any sense.
