In reality is social media basically pointless?

It depends on what you use it in terms of activities. For myself i came off social media, because I don't fake people looking into my life. Plus people that don't like you are still friends with you, mean really.

In terms of business and making money is great source to make a income.

For family and friends who live in different countries, social media great for this.

Conclusion, no it is not useless, that depends on you. A car can be useless to you, if you never drive it, or have no need for it. Again it comes back to, what you needs and wants for it.

Social networks are totally pointless, but media are kinda necessary (tv or newspaper for example).
