Is social media a necessity?

Most definitely not a necessity. There are many people in the world that don't use it currently and get along just fine. Humans did not have a need for technology for many millennia and since we've existed. We are the only century to even have the concept of social media. Truthfully it's more crippling socially in society than it is beneficial.

If social media was a necessity, you would need to explain how I and my contemporaries managed to be born, grow up, and get well into our middle age without having social media.
