What headphones/earphones do you listen to music through?

When I was younger, I didn't really care much about sound quality, so I would listen to music using any headphones or earbuds that were available. However, once I started getting into hi-fi music, I upgraded to the dt770pro 80 ohm and Koss Ksc75's. For a long time, those served me well. If I wanted something for casual use, I would simply use my Apple earbuds or some wireless earbuds from amazon.

But nowadays, I primarily use in-ear monitors (IEMs), specifically the Truthear Crinnacle Zero's because of the quality of its dedicated driver for subass. However, I never use them without pairing them with the Qudelix 5k (Bluetooth dac/amp). I always have them paired because I heavily eq my headphones. And I prefer 20 band eq on everything I listen to. Especially these headphones tend to have a shouty sound signature.

What about you? What headphones do you use?

Either JBL Live 60s, Audio-Technica M30S or a cheap AKG model which I have forgotten.

I also used to have a pair of LD Systems headphones which had their headband break. I also had a pair of headphones from a Finnish electronics brand called Walter that also suffered headband breakage and are awaiting disposal.

I am a hobbyist music producer, so I use quite a lot of headphones as you see.

I currently use some Beats headphones, that a friend of my wife got for me. As far as I can tell, they have great sound. As far as earbuds are concerned, I can't stand them.

Earbuds can be annoying Tbh. Especially earphones since I have to constantly clean my ears & clean & let dry the foam ear tips I use. I have to use a fresh pair of foam tips everyday because they become too oily to stay in my ear. But the extra detail I get is worth it for me.

how can speakers that small give better sound detail than headphones?

For me at least, iems provide a much better isolation experience which translates to better detail perception. I could be able to hear a similar level of detail for headphones, but it's harder since they drivers aren't funelling sound directly in your ear. It's bouncing around outside of your ear more often.

For instance, I have the dt770pro 80 ohm beyerdynamic headphones with the choice leather earpads & even with eq I can't hear as much detail as I can with my truthear zero's & eq.

I ran the test by using the "abx" audio testing software. Using lossy & lossless versions of the same file. I could tell the quality difference more on my iems. But definitely test for yourself because your setup may be different than mine. Especially the eq & type of headphone/iems

I remember looking into some skullcandy headphones before because people said it had a haptic feedback kinda bass. Did you feel that any?

@Sonorous yes! And I do listen to mostly music with lots of bass , I couldn’t live without them to be honest. I find them to do the same kind of work AirPods do

I have eq'd so much bass onto my truthears that when I showed people the frequency curve, they thought I was trolling & temporarily banned me from the audiophile discord server 🤣

it's pretty funny that they did that too. Because when I'm at my desktop, I pair them with the qudelix & a dolby digital gaming processor that adds more bass but keeps the higher frequencies the same. And that paired with the "dht" setting & these volume ajustments on the "Hesuvi" software makes the bass sound even bigger without crowding too much:

I do wish they were wired. I feel like I'd only pay that much for wired 🤣 so that I can get the highest quality with as few lost audio information as possible
