HP Pavilion Entertainment laptop.
It WAS playing fine a few hours ago until I switched DVD's. It started acting goofy, at first. The only way I could get it to stop was to restart. Once it started back up past the initial Windows screen, the screen was black and it kept making this ringing sound over and over again about twice a second. I couldn't get it to stop so, I pulled the plug. Plugged it back in, started it up and it did the same thing. I did the same all over again and went to Safe Mode, so to speak. Each time I tried to start it up that way, it'd start running again and then shut off after a few moments. Next time I turned it back on, it rang for about 15 seconds and then just shut itself off! I tried several more times to get to Safe Mode and it'd die after about 20 seconds of start up.
During one of the last two times I got it into Safe Mode, after just a couple seconds, I think I got the BSOD but, I can't tell for sure. There was a lot of text on the screen with a blue background but I couldn't even read the first word before it died, again.
Any idea what's wrong and how to fix it?
First thing i would try is try to get into the bios. For my desktop i just spam the delete key when i turn on the computer. But it could be different for your laptop. For an hp laptop it may be f10. You may want to look up your model online and see how to get into the bios. One your in there make sure your ram and hard drive is showing and if it doesn't die in the bios, it may be a software issue. You could try to reinstall windows or mess with the ram. You may want to remove one stick and test and then swap the stick and test again and then change slots and try again. But Definity make sure you can get into the bios first and check if the memory and drives are showing up.

Sounds like your GPU just got fried, unless you dropped it and the ram stick came loose. Bow there also could be lots of things like:... How old is it? When was last time Serviced (internal cleaning/dusting off), When had the Thermal Paste been changed (helps with heat transfer from the cpu), When was last time Updated, What type of Windows do you use? And lastly... Very few people use Dvd these days, most of the Movies are On Line! 🤷♂️
Put a Linux Distro on it. It's free and it works.
