What do I do if my 9 year old hp stream 11 laptop keeps having message 601 where it says battery plugged in and not charging?

Most likely the battery is bad and needs replaced. In my opinion it's not worth the effort or money on a laptop that old and low of specs. I'd use the laptop as is till you can afford another one. FYI it's a good idea to avoid HP Streams, they have bare minimum ram and storage that can't be upgraded and 99% of the time come with a low end Celeron processors. I feel bad for all the people stuck using a HP stream with windows 11.

it means your battery is old but, it can mean other things, so switch another battery same type, to rule out other stuff. if good battery charges buy a new replacement battery. usually 79$.

Actually it does have a removable battery, just have to remove the back ( or top cover depending on model) cover, but in my opinion, your better off taking the money for a replacement battery and put it towards a new laptop.

Awesome. Then just use the HP stream as is and use it as a back up device.

Your mistake was getting a HP. I had 2 new ones and both crapped out after a short time.

I do have a newer hp stream 14 laptop and it uses windows 10 on it also it has a bigger screen and looks more modern

Prepare for you hard drive to take a dump like my new one did. I had to ship it to HP for repair on my first day at my sister's house and didn't get it back until the day I was supposed to leave. This happened twice to new laptops. I will never by another HP computer and have had no problems with Lenovo.

It's the newer one I bought on the other hand I gave the broken one to my dad
