Dies anyone else get random text from strangers from a new phone number that was just connected?

Yes... texts, and phone calls. The number probably belonged to someone else and their "friends" may be trying to contact them. Just ignore it. They will go away. And if they don't, just make a simply reply... "This is Andrew (or some made up name), not who you think it is."

I did when I first got my current number. I think they only hold them for 6 months so people might still be trying to get the last person who had it.
