The label being proposed is to alert parents of children that their kids being on social media can be harmful to the kids' mental health... which is definitely true.

I don't have a problem with such a label.

Because many people are irresponsible parents - more so than when I was young.
Such parents may not realize the potential harm of social media, so the warning is just a way to make sure they get the "head's up" about it.

Unlike the side of a pack of cigarettes, the warning would likely appear before being allowed to enter the website. Sort of like a "21 and Over" confirmation for alcohol sites.

Labels are a form of advertising and advertising definitely works; our economy depends on it.

I once was in a sharper image store for 20 min before having the neon "going out of business signs over head" pointed out to me. From an employee position of "where should we hang these" it was excellent. But from a customer "focus on the item needed and not everything else you want" standpoint it failed as I wasn't looking around. Three other people had the same reaction after me.
I think we as humans get desensitized to it all.

Guys and women can certainly be friends. I have several female friends. Even though I haven't had sex in a long time, I still wouldn't have sex with them because it might affect our friendship.

No. It's another authoritarian power grab by a government who has too much of our money and is wasting it looking for things to do that are not in our best interests. Who the hell needs the government for something as stupid as this. What a waste of taxpayer money. What people are doing on social media is none of the government's business.

Secure the border, protect this country from foreign security risks and stop screwing with the economy so people can't afford to eat. That's your job Mr Government. And you're not doing it!

I rather not. Someone will foul it up and classify every digital exchange medium as social media, even if it's not social media e. g. stackoverflow, zillow, GAG, email providers, video hosting platforms (except maybe YouTube, which developed into it)
