Should I delete all the social media and feel freedom and no string attached?

I have a feeling that I am being monitored and I don’t feel comfortable putting up photos and information that could be used by thieves. Besides, social media is all about advertising. Somehow they use everyone for their ads. I have red people who deleted their account and feel great about it. What do you think? Should I delete it?
