Have anybody noticed this on Instagram?

I haven't linked my contacts to my Instagram account. I don't follow anyone but my family who doesn't know this particular account. It's at the top of my discover people list as "instagram suggested" and all the others just say suggested to you.

The account is showing up twice in my suggestion list and it's the only one that's repeated twice onas "instagram suggested" and the other as suggested to you. I refresh it and it's still the same.

Why one of the accounts I do know isn't high lighted as "instagram suggested".

I don't frequent on Instagram , search or like any reels or post or engage with anyone's profile for this particular account to be suggested to me. I do know this individual, but don't have their number in my phone contacts. Have any one experience this?

Happens to me too. Even with people whose number I don't even have anymore. I get suggestions for people I used to know years ago and don't even talk to. Any time you get repeated 'suggested for you' it's probably because they looked at your profile.

It could be that maybe they have your number even if you don't have theirs.

Does it matter if one says instagram suggested and the other say suggested for you? She's the only one repeated. And why would someone keep someone number for years. I was thinking maybe the other person might not have your contact anymore and maybe instagram stored and remember numbers even with them no longer in someone's contact. I don't know but it's strange.

I don't think it really matters, no. It will still be the same thing. She might not have it anymore. But IG and Facebook do still store old contacts as suggestions long after you've deleted them, and maybe they deleted you too. Right now I still get Facebook recommending people to me whose numbers I deleted ages ago, unless they never deleted mine.

Either way, if you really don't want her to see that you're on there just block her. She will never know the difference. If she goes looking you up she won't find anything and she'll assume you either blocked her or just deleted your account.

Yea definitely, Instagram has access to all your contact info and stuff, it also happens on Facebook and stuff, they are only asking if you want them to see you i think but to be fair they most likely still see you as well

No I have people I haven't searched on mine that show up on those suggested, I think it's a location thing, it searches the people near you or that you might know and put them there

That's why I don't use social media. I've noticed that as well. If you are searching for something on Chrome then you will have ads related to that on insta and FB as well even if you've turned off data sharing for adverts

I know instagram says they don't use profile visits as a suggestion to you but I don't believe it. I never looked this person up or viewed their profile. Do you think its possible that the reason their being suggested is maybe they visited your profile or searched for you?

Nope, I don't know they do it but I'm sure they use your data and your contacts in the background even when you don't allow it

Yes it was suggested to me similar. they did spy somehow.

If you use it from the same device or location or IP address or anything they will link them together.
