Chevy suburban Trans question?

So a family member of mine had to get the trans replaced in his. Is Chevy known for trans problems? I used to have a very old focus, but never had trans problems knock on wood. His suburban is a 2017

I know someone with a Chevy Blazer with the tow package. It might be the same transmission. I don't know the year, but it's fairly new. They have it in the shop right now for the transmission. It has a shuddering at low speeds around 20-30MPH. They had the torque converter replaced a year ago. Now the dealer is saying something about bad transmission fluid, which I am skeptical about.

It's been two days since I talked to them. I don't know if they have it back yet, or what was done.

There is no recall that I know of, but there is a service bulletin about testing and servicing the problem. This appears to be a common problem. They've had it worked on twice in the last year. They bought it used, but it still falls under the power train warranty.

I don't think Chevy is known for bad transmission. I think it's just this particular transmission. It's not a variable transmission. I know those give a lot of problems in some cars other than Chevy.

Yea you nailed it with CVT. I just bought a 2022 rouge sport a month ago and it’s got that. If CVT sucks, I don’t get why that make them

Yea, Nisan is exactly what I was thinking of. I know someone with a Rogue but it's not CVT. It does have the 3 cylinder engine though. I don't know how long it will last. It's a weird design.

Trade it for a mazda they still use normal 6 speed automatic they get worse gas mileage but are more reliable long term I rather spend the dollar extra on gas then be at the shop all the time with a broken cvt.

Interesting story. I did test drive a 2021 trailblazer once but had 47k miles on it. They wanted $20k, 2021. Backed out cause of the mileage. I got a rouge sport 2022, lesser miles, same price. Just hope CVT behaves

I traded my 1996 Tahoe because the transmission was starting to slip. It had over 220,000 miles on it and i did not want to spend the money to have it fixed. I traded it in for a new 2008 Z-71 Tahoe. The Suburban probably had the same transmission.
The suburban is not even 10 years old and if it was not abused or used to plow snow it is unusual but probably unheard of. . Sometimes you just get a bad unit. I am not a fan of automatic transmissions anyway. If they built fulll size SUVs with a 4 speed i woud buy it even if i had toorder it from the factory.

Depends on the model year. Old Chevy transmissions were great.
