Italy is known for many things, including the manufacture of automobiles.

The poll lists the major Italian auto-makers, in alphabetical order.

Which do you think is the best Italian auto-maker?

I'm sorry but one thing Italians do not do well is designing and producing cars. There is no good Italian car.

And before someone brings up Ferrari or Lamborghini, they don't sell cars. They operate luxury branding business models that sell status and exclusivity to the needy rich. It's easy to make an exciting car that sells for a minimum of $250,000. It goddamned better be amazing at that price. But Porsche does it better at lower prices. Better reliability, better durability, better service, and better pricing. Only an idiot with more money than brains would buy a Ferrari or a Lambo. They are garage art. it's the one thing the Italians are outstanding at, exterior design. Studios like Pininfarina turn out some gorgeous looking sheet metal / plastic / glass.

There's a reason why Fiat and Alfa Romeo have failed multiple times in the US market. But to be fair, Italian automakers are small. Designing cars for exports markets takes a lot of cash when the markets are as different as North America and Italy. It's hard to sell a car designed specifically for Italian roads and regulations to US and Canadian consumers. And it's hard to build a platform for export markets only.

I voted for Lamborghini, Ferrari is the close second. I like Alfa Romeo too.

I'm not voting for Fiat because I don't think it's objectively the best brand, but I drove a Punto for 12 years and apart from an electrical glitch that should have been fixed before it left the factory I had no problems.

Would I like a Ferrari? Sure, if someone else is paying.
