What's the point of having a cell phone if it won't let me answer incoming calls?

If the phone is awake and sitting beside me and a call comes in, USUALLY, it shows 2 buttons, one red and one green. If I press the green, it lets me take the call. SOMETIMES, I can push the green several times and it STILL won't let me take the call!!
If the phone is on but goes to sleep and I get a call, either it wakes up and shows me a call is coming in or I have to wake it and it shows me there's an incoming call but the only button I get is a little round one that has the insignia of a REAL phone pictured on it! I can press that hundreds of times and it NEVER lets me take the call!! The button just bounces up and down every time I press it!! What fucking good is that? Best I can do is press some other button that brings up a menu and one of the selections is a message saying, "I'll call you right back." I press that, they hang up and THEN, I can call them back and talk to them!!
2 weeks ago, I figured that if I can wake it up and have it take me to the password page where I can punch in my password, it SHOULD, theoretically, allow me to take the call!! NO SUCH FUCKING LUCK!!! IT REFUSES TO LET ME GET TO THE PASSWORD SCREEN!!!
The password screen is another hassle!! WHY do I have to type it in EVERY TIME I wake up the phone? Is there some way to disable that? What's the point of that? I have no classified state top secrets on the phone, just a couple pictures I couldn't give a rat's ass if ANYBODY sees!! Once I turn it on and punch in my password, that SHOULD be all it needs to stay operative until I shut it off for the night!!

What's the point of having a cell phone if it won't let me answer incoming calls?
