Trolls are obnoxious and rude, sometimes they're funny, intentionally or unintentionally. Sometimes they are just plain mean.

Catfish however are worse. They're manipulative and desperate for attention and praying on other people's need for attention. It's fake yet feels real and maybe not so dangerous at first but eventually is really messed up screwing with people's emotions if they go far enough with it.

Troll is generally more damaging on a broad, social level, causing chaos, spreading hate, and destroying reputations in public forums.

Ultimately, both are forms of cyberbullying that can have severe, long-lasting consequences for their victims.

Probably a catfish. Troll are usually harmless goofs. Catfishes take advantage of lonely and/or sad people.
