Ideas:

Give "humans" the ability to breathe under water, live on less oxygen, ability to do photosynthesis, be more resistant to UV radiation and high temperature, have greater frequency range of hearing on par with dogs, greater range of vision (e. g. see ultraviolet and/or infrared), be able to grow back limbs easily, be better adapted for life on mars etc.

Gene splicing sounds like fun science fiction until you think about the real-world ramifications of it, like all the new health problems, exposure to new illnesses and bacteria that previously didn’t affect humans, the inevitable deaths of human test subjects, etc.

I don't think we are going to stop climate change by changing our habits. Generally speaking, people are too selfish. I think the only way we will survive is by adapting to it.

I suspect there will be a renewed interest, during or immediately after the AI/robot era. I don't trust most people to change their own habits to save world. Many people don't want to inconvenience themselves and expect government to fix their problems. I think we are metaphorically going to drive off a train track. Either we adapt or maybe we are forced to move to another planet. And I suspect one power maniac with lots of companies including a rocket one, will benefit from the latter option, he will be viewed as some sort of savior

From a philosophical standpoint, many would argue that we lack the wisdom to manage life's complexity, but some would say it would be immoral to refrain from using our tools to end disease and suffering. Personally, I believe it should be left alone.
