Why is my profile automatically following random people even tho I didn't follow them?

I had the same thing happen when I joined. I followed a bunch of people that were considered infuecers and then some of the AI bots.

I just unfollowed them all. It probably didn't take more than 30 seconds to do so.

It really wants to start shoving the AI bots down your throat the second you show up. Get used to it unfortunately. It only takes a minute to remove them all real quick though.
