Do you ever block your co-workers on social media?

Relax. It's not out of malice. Sometimes I will look them up on social media before we can ever even connect, and if I find them I will block them so they can't ever try to be friends or try to quietly snoop on my page. I also do this with managers as well. It's not out of ill will or paranoia, I just do it to protect my privacy and not let my social media get around at work. It's my personal space and the last thing I want is to have everyone on the job following me or seeing things I post that are not meant for everyone (non-sexual of course).

Do any of you guys do this?

I've had a few creepy guys I've blocked over the year. And some women too who loved to tell me I was doing everything wrong, but I don't preemptively block people anymore. I used to back when I was doing OnlyFans, but I stopped doing that in 2021

Glad you stopped OF. Although I could understand if you were blocking people back while you were doing it, you didn't want them knowing or spreading that around at work.

Right on. People are super nosy on my job, I think it's a tech thing. They love looking everyone up on the internet to see what they can find out about them, so for me to block them beforehand on social media saves me some of the headache.

it is indeed a social media thing, as a substack essay puts it, nowadays you can acess to a person who blocked you like 12 years ago... it is invasive and you are better off without it

I only have one coworker on social media and we're friends outside of work. I wouldn't block her because I trust her

I have had one friend request pending on Facebook for literal years. They can’t see anything anyway, so I don’t need to go so far as blocking but definitely act like I don’t use it so they don’t get offended why they’re still pending…
