Somnath Temple

Location: Gujarat

Somnath Temple has been revered as the first jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva and it is said to have been built by the Moon God after Lord Shiva freed him from the curse of waning. The temple has been restored several times since then.

Kashi Vishwanath

Location: Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, it is one of the holiest temples of India. The temple was built by Ahilyabai in 1780 and today its holds utmost importance for the Hindus who believe that a bath in the Holy River Ganga can liberate one from all the sins.

Siddhivinayak Temple

Location: Maharashtra

Built in the year 1801, Siddhivinayak temple is a prominent temple of Lord Ganesha. The inner roof of the temple complex is plated with gold and the wooden doors are carved with the images of Ashtavinayaka.

Shirdi Sai Baba Temple

Location: Maharashtra

It is the holy shrine of Sai Baba and the also the third richest temple of India. Shirdi is the land of Sai baba, therefore, it is considered to be a pilgrimage for his followers. Millions of devotees, irrespective of their religion, flock to the temple every year. Donations as high as Rs.350 crores are offered at the temple annually.

Nice take :) I am from Dwarka - the famous Lord Krishna temple.

Howmuchever great, these days the temples are just trying to loot money from common people in the name of 'fees','

Also, I have a personal feeling that instead of donating crores/lakhs/thousands of rupees to a temple, such money if diverted to feeding the poor who actually need, who have to wander around even for filling their stomach once a day even - as that is what the Gods in those temples too would want and is true devotion to God i think :)

Coming from a Indian Christian background I refuse to enter or be near and hindu temple or what you call "mandir"

Nothing to do with concern. Would you go near or visit the place of worship of people who persecute your people? Lets say group X beats hindus to death, burn down their temples etc would you go near their place of worship or enter said place of worship?

As I already mentioned we all are human beings. All living creatures on this planet deserve their rights.

They are the perpetrators. The people conducting any illegal activity must be punished.

Just have patience dude. You might get proper answer in my next take. I have empathy towards all human beings including you. It one of the reason why I said I can understand your concern.

We will give you Prasad as 'god's blessings'
Eat it considering it as a 'food item'

Only , different people view /see God in different ways!
God is everywhere and not only in temples or churches.

Actually, I don't support idol-worship as followed by many Hindu people

Idol worship is a sign of illiteracy------Sant Kabir

However, Ganesh-utsav and Durga-Puja were introduced by Balgangadhar Tilak ji to create unity among people during independence struggle (as per my knowledge)
And now its a part of our culture and traditions so, it's okk!

While celebrating any religious ritual or anything similar, i should take care of my religious beliefs and not hurt hue anybody'sor belief.
I think this would make me a good person.
Tgen if you ask me to do that, you are not good then.
I dont think eating 'prasad' would hurt any of your religious belief.
Otherwise why would i invite you?

There are also good Temples in Kathmandu.
