Disney has REALLY turned the screws on customers. Prices - which have always been high - are astronomical now - and yet you get less for your money at the same time. They now have a "pay to play" system for rides - if you don't want to wait 1-3 hours for a ride, you can pay an additional $10-15 per rider, per ride, to skip the main line - but that means the main line is even slower, and it means wealthy people can skip the lines while people without endless money have to wait and wait and wait.

Food portions have shrunk while food prices (and all other prices) have been raised multiple times in 2021, and again in 2022. Many rides and attractions are closed, and park open times have been shortened. They've treated the staff so poorly over the last couple of years that staff morale is very low, and this gets reflected in the guest experience.

The truth is that Disney has been intentionally catering to the high-end customers, at the expense of the middle-class families that have always been its bread and butter. Make sure you understand the changes that have happened in the last couple of years - a LOT has changed - and bring a LOT more money than you're used to bringing. You'll need it.

I go once a year and the last trip I took wasn't bad, but that was in June before the Genie+ and some of the other new things happened. All of that was implemented by Josh D'Amaro, who took over as the chairman of Disney Parks in May. Most of the insiders see two reasons for it.
The first is that they are making it a "once in a lifetime" trip knowing that people will still pay the huge price. The thinking is that less people there means a smaller workforce and a higher profit margin. They don't care about driving off people like me who are there more, but spend less.
The other is that they are trying to make up some of the four billion dollar loss from Covid.
Either way the push back and negative press has people thinking Josh D'Amaro might not be in that spot much longer especially if Galactic Starliner is a huge flop due to his cutbacks.
So for me, it's a bit of a waiting game to see how this plays out.

The Generic Starcruiser is a sick joke and after all of the wealthy "first to everything" people take their overpriced trip, bookings are going to fall way off. But Genie+ is the bigger insult because it affects everyone.

I've been there as a kid.
I've been there as a teenager with a group of friends.
I've been back again as an adult with my husband.
You'll have to pay me to return but I'll very likely say "No thanks!"
