Southern Italy is definitely a good one - it's beautiful, but much poorer than the North, which makes it cheap. It's also only a ferry ride across from Croatia, which has a stunning coastline and islands as well, and is a good starting point for exploring the rest of the Balkans.
It depends what you're looking for though - culture and history, bustling cities and nightlife, sunshine and beaches, snow and mountains...

Definitely try Amsterdam.
Beautiful flowers. The best beef and dairy. Very warm and friendly and nice people.

If you are considering a tour, you can try G adventures.
If you are going by yourself, you should visit Rome, Amsterdam, Paris and Switzerland.

A lot of people from Germany go there for a vacation. It's a good destination because you have a lot to see, both the coastal and continental parts of the country.

If you are planning to go to Croatia (coastal parts). You have Istria, I heard it's beautiful. Cities like Rovinj and Pula are quite popular among tourists. Then Dalmatia (Zadar is a beautiful city) and islands. Dubrovnik is overrated. It's beautiful but prices are madly high and if you hate crowds, then it's not a good place to visit 😅

Maybe check some travel vlogs on YouTube? You can get ideas from people who travelled to these countries.
