What’s your view on Myrtle Beach?

I live on the outskirts of Myrtle Beach, SC. Was born here, raised in the Midwest but then came back to MB a few years ago.

There are reasons why I like it here but there are also reasons why I don’t.

I’m curious about the overall tourist opinion of MB and the Grand Strand area and how it measures up to my experience as a local. What was your experience like?

Grew up in Lexington and Columbia. When the Pavilion was there, it was cool, but its gotten way too overcrowded lately. It's also earned the nickname Dirty Myrtle for a reason, the city has gone down the drain.

I was there when I was 21 for golf. It was great for that, and the bars were ok, decent places to eat. More than that I don't remember - it was one of those "golf orgies". LOL I DO like southern women though, for the most part.

Used to go all the time my family had a condo. Only experienced the tourist areas. Always had fun we had a funny thing happen the last time we visited my 8 month pregnant wife started a revolution.

Went to see The Dark Knight (thats how long ago) and during the opening robbery scene the theatre alarms went off telling everyone to leave immediately. This was shortly after the mass shooting that happened so everyone freaked out and ran from the theatre.

Firemen arrived then left while all the movie goers were milling around outside. A theatre employee came to the door and explained that a popcorn machine set the alarms off and they’re closing the theatre.

My 8 mo pregnant wife suddenly pushed through the door and began yelling I WANT TO SEE THE MOVIE OR MY MONEY BACK! When she pushed her way in all these people followed and shouted in agreement to my wife. The employee looked scared and let everyone in.

As for me I call it Dirty Myrtle depending on where in Myrtle Beach you are visiting, staying or even living. On the flip side Myrtle Beach like any other place has nice areas as well dirty areas but over all it’s a nice place to visit.

I liked going there when I was a little kid. But I visited again recently (in 2017) and it looked really run down and trashy.

I don't really have any thought about it. It's a beach... it has sand... Not much more to think about, in my mind.

I've always felt it was overcrowded and tend to gravitate to the more out-of-the way beaches like Atlantic Beach.

Use to golf there quite a bit when I lived in Charlotte.

I went there as a kid I love their beach although in this picture it was Vero Beach Florida

I have never been there. My best friend jut moved near there and he really likes it.

Never been there, but we did have a cow called Myrtle when I was growing up. She was lovely.

I like the beaches in NC better less crowded and the islands are really nice

Myrtle Beach was fun when I was a kid, now its ghetto as hell, to put it nicely. Don't know what happened

It's fun for a Spring break, but a little tacky to settle there.
